This film "Vel" is double role for actor Suriya. It seems that Nellai district backdrop specially meant for Director Hari. For each and every issue the people get angry in this story. The story begins with one Suriya in Nellai, and the other Suriya in Chennai. As usual, like in all Hari's films, all scenes in this film are also speedily paced.
Just like Konar notes clarity Hari also explains the separation of the two Suriyas in the beginning of the film itself. Every scene creates eagerness as to when both the Suriyas will unite. One Suriya works as a Detective, in an agency. He falls in love with Asin who works as a Compere in a private television channel. When Asin visits Nellai, she sees another Suriya there. Chennai Suriya, identifying that the Nellai Suriya is his own brother goes to Nellai. In the meantime, the Nellai Suriya comes to Chennai .There he feels his Mother's love. After the influence of his Mother's love in Chennai, the story is followed by the happenings to this Suriya when he returns to Nellai. One Suriya is for intelligence, the other Suriya is for angriness. The performance of Suriya in both these roles is like Atom bomb.
For each and every thing the village Suriya takes his Sword. His fights with Kalabhavan Mani are really rocking. Kalabhavan Mani tries to show his courage differently by trying to enter Suriya's house and steal the women's sari in the house. In the meantime the city Suriya enters Mani's house and rings Death bells to Mani through phone. When the fans tend to think that all the railway track scenes are similar Hari gives us a thrilling surprise twist.
Suriya - Asin scenes are charming. Considering his lover above everything, Suriya forecasts himself to be a Drug-addict. Believing his actions to be real, Asin takes Suriya to a Drug-relief centre .Asin catches the private channel mike with lots of dreams, but in the end everything seems to be fading out.
Each and every time Vadivelu lifts the cows skin, and feels shame about him.
The emotional tussle between the Mom and the Grand mother is an usual formula to make the women's saree wet again.
Fire on the top of the Palm tree, buses flying in space, the Tata Sumos are good taste for hari’s fans, but waste of money.
